There are more bloggers who give up than those who carry on and reap the fruits of their labor. Is it any wonder then why only few succeed in this field? Why do bloggers give up? What makes us want to quit and throw away everything we’ve learned? What makes us forget all our dreams and motivations for creating our blogs in the first place?
1.Expecting to reap the benefits too soon.
It’s really disappointing that after all our efforts setting up our blog and writing our best posts, we see nobody reading them. Never mind the money, but not being able to see visitors coming is really a hard thing to face. It’s like putting up a concert, rehearsing your very best, and then only seeing a handful of people coming to watch you. At the initial stages, it’s quite possible that nobody really comes at all! But here is where you could make a difference. While everybody else is taking things personally and getting frustrated, you could stay cool. Instead of crying over visitors who never come, rejoice over those that have found you. Be patient. It’s still a virtue you know, a very valuable virtue.
2.Possessing insufficient knowledge
There may come a time when you think you’ve done it all, and despite everything, your blog is not doing well. You get frustrated because you can’t see any other path by which you could continue progressing. At this point, think twice. You may just be lacking the right strategies, information and tools that could help you and your blog take off. Try to cast the net once again, just one time more. Do some research. If you’re really exhausted, rest awhile and then try to explore again. Who knows? Maybe it would only take a few tweaks of your blog to lift it off to the next level of the game. See the tips and tools at this blog for a start.
3.Running out of content
It happens. The initial rush of good ideas fade. You experience a blogger’s block, and no matter how you stare at that screen, you just can’t think of anything to write. But this is no reason to believe that you can’t write about your topic anymore. You’re just trying to replenish your motivation. Check out the following:
- Close that computer and listen to some of your favorite music. Stop thinking about something to blog about. Instead of trying to force yourself to write, force yourself not to think about writing.
- Take a good walk and breathe some fresh air. This would restore your balance and ease your exhaustion.
- Go to a bookstore and buy yourself a new book. Read that book and let your creative juices flow once again.
- Read your favorite blogs and your not so favorite ones. You may either find something you strong agree to or strongly disagree to. Either way, you’d be itching to grab that pen again.
4.Lacking enough time to continue blogging
I’ve got episodes of frustration of being too tired to blog after work and of not being able to do enough during my free hours, even on weekends. That’s certainly one of the reasons I tried to discover time saving strategies to make the most of the time I have. My friend, the solution is not quitting but having the right plan and tools to assist you to do what you have to do. You’ll find a lot of time saving tips and tools in this blog because that’s one are it’s meant to focus on.
5.Not being able to afford blogging anymore
Out of all the reasons you’d quit for, this may just be the saddest. Why? Because you don’t have to spend so much in order to blog and share your ideas to the world. You don’t have to buy all the tools, templates and books everybody’s saying you should buy. You don’t even have to buy a domain name. You can continue blogging at BLOGGER.COM and you could do it FREE! As to the disadvantages some people are talking about, we’ll try to find a way around it. This blog would tackle on alternatives and improvisations that could certainly add more excitement to the game!
6.Not finding the real value of what you’re offering
While you’re trying to find your own voice in blogging, some nut may criticize you and tell you you’re not offering anything new. You may even be tagged as a copycat, and your blog as no different from the many others that came before it. But take heart. You must continue believing in what you’ve got and in what you could offer. The very first person who’s got to believe in you is YOU! Accept that you’re not perfect yet. Accept that you may not be at the right niche yet. But never accept the accusation that this is all you’d be. You’re in the very exciting process of knowing who you really are. You’re growing and learning and discovering new things. Your blog will evolve at the same time that you evolve. So keep on growing and one day you will see the real value of what you’re blogging about.

Great post and good encouragement. I too have been feeling a sense of loss of creativeness and originality lately.
I saw how many wonderful bloggers who seemed to say what I wanted to say so much better. At first this depressed me a little. Then I decided, why not let my readers know about these bloggers? So I asked them if they would do guest posts.
This gives my readers good articles to read and gives me time to regenerate myself and re-evaluate.
Thanks, Lea! There are times when we have certain doubts about what we’re doing, but these things somewhat become turning points into achieving something better.
Thanks for this article! I’m definitely going to come back and read over these again tonight when I’m trying to post… I’ve been dragging lately for sure. Guess there are always ups and downs, right?
