What is a leak?  A leak is a channel which diverts your audience or your customers into places you don’t want them to go.

Check your blog and your salespage for leaks.  You may be losing  sales without your awareness.

In your blog, check out for too much clutter.  Are you giving your readers too many options to choose from?  Which option do you want them to choose?  Is it to be able to find a product you’re promoting?

Then make sure that the design and arrangement of your page elements would do just that!

We’ve always been concerned with increasing our blog traffic because we’ve always heard it to be one of the most important things to do in order to make money online.  However, there comes a time when we do have sufficient traffic coming our way but we are not aware that we could already monetize it.

1.  Check for your blog statistics.  What are your top visited pages in your blog?

2. What products can you promote or sell with those articles?  Are there any related niches you can tap?

3. Have you provided a relevant product link for sell for each of those pages regularly visited in your blog?

One thing you should remember when blogging or when doing affiliate marketing is that every little small tweak counts.  It could be as simple as changing the position of your ads, of changing the font, font size or font color or of adding an attractive image near your product link.
You have to be able to learn and even to enjoy experimenting with various changes in your blog and in your sales pages.  You also have to be able to monitor those changes and to remember which tweak worked and which didn’t.  Every little small tweak counts online.  It could make a difference between hundred of dollars in earnings or earning virtually nothing online.

1. Pick 4 or more articles you’ve written that have a common theme and put them in an autoresponder series. Announce it on your site as an e-mail course on the go.

2. If you have a page for related links, create a related links file and put it on autoresponder. This can be a one-page e-mail containing 15-50 links that are of interest to your visitors. Put your own promotional texts or blurbs at the top, middle and bottom of the e-mail.

3. Create a fun or trivia quiz, put it up on your site and put the answers in an autoresponder that your visitors can request. This way, you’ll know the people who took your quiz.

4. Write reviews of books, music, e-books, sites, software or anything you can think of and put each review (or related reviews) in an autoresponder. If what you are reviewing have affiliate programs, use your affiliate links in the autoresponder.

5. Run a contest on your site or e-zine, then have your visitors or subscribers send their responses to your autoresponder. This way, you won’t have to worry about manually sending them a confirmation receipt.

6. Create a frequently updated autoresponder and let your visitors and/or subscribers know about it. You can put in weekly tips or links to useful resources in the autoresponder and a reminder to the people who request it that you update it every week or on a regular basis (e.g. tell them to request for the same autoresponder again a week from now). You can use this method instead of using autoresponders with limited follow up messages.

7. If you’ve written 20 or more articles and you have them on separate autoresponder accounts, create a master list for your articles. In this master list, list the titles of your articles, their autoresponder addresses and their short descriptions. You can then just promote this master list.

8. Put excerpts or free chapters of your e-book, book or paid e-mail courses in an autoresponder series, then include your follow up sales letters at the end.

9. If you’re selling your own products, put your testimonials on autoresponder, along with the description of your products, an excerpt or a free chapter. This will increase your credibility.

10. Keep track of people who download your free e-book, e-report, or free software by putting their download links in an autoresponder. When you promote your free product, you can just promote the autoresponder address.

11. Put links to your hidden pages on autoresponder. A hidden page could be the affiliate page where you have all the graphics, text links, promotional articles that interested affiliates can use. Let people know they can have free access to your affiliate page by requesting the autoresponder. This way, you can have a list of people who are interested in becoming your affiliates.

I’ve just discovered a website that helps you manage your twitter followers.

BUZZOM.COM

It’s very simple to use, fast, and gives you an idea of your twitter friends, and followers. Try it!

It is crucial to know if your site is indexed by the search engines. After all, what good it is to spend weeks or ever months developing and optimizing your website just to realize that your site is nowhere to be found. In this article I will share some of the tricks I use to find out whether or not my websites are indexed by Google.

1. Install Google Toolbar. If you do not wish to install this small application, I will show you another method in a moment.

2. Open the browser where the toolbar in installed and type in the url of your homepage.

3. Click on the i icon on the toolbar

4. Select Cached Snapshot of Page. If Google shows that there’s something in the cache, you should congratulate yourself because your website is indexed. If there is nothing in the cache, it does not mean that Google did not index that page due to the fact that a cache is a temporary storage used to store websites short-term. If your website is not cached it could mean that Google did not have a change to do so.

If you do not have Google Toolbar installed, go to Google and type: cache: yourdomain.com in the search box (replace yourdomain.com with the domain of your website). This will also tell you if Google cached your website or not.

How many pages are indexed?

Here’s another trick that will show you how many pages are indexed by Google. Just type “site:yourdomain.com -blablabla”. This syntax will display ALL the pages on your website known by Google that does not contain the word “blablabla”. Replace yourdomain.com with the domain of your website. You can use any word instead of “blablabla” as long as this word does not appear anywhere on your website.

Please not that by changing the garbage text the results will be different. For example you will get a different results when typing yourdomain.com -blablabla and a different one with yourdomain.com -trtrtrtrt.

The easiest way of finding out how many pages are indexed is to look at the link at the top of your query. For example a “1-10 of about 15″ result means that Google has indexed 15 pages.

If you do not get any results back, try adding www in front of your query: www.yourdomain.com -blablabla. You may also try just typing your domain name in Google. Any of these searches should return something. If not, your website is not indexed.

How to find out if your website is indexed in other search engines?

The easiest way of finding out if your website is listed in other search engines is to go to a specific engine and search for your domain name.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the importance of ranking on the top positions of the search engines. The one and only goal that a web owner should have is to get to those top positions on the search engines, by identifying proper SEO tactics and methods to rank for and that will help conversions. Search engine optimization’s ultimate goal is to help raise your keywords to the top of the results page. Customers and clients respect and trust those top results in the search engines.

The search engines can’t manually review each website on the internet so they use algorithms and computers to help them, their ultimate goal is to make a search as relevant as possible to the searcher. By doing a few things you can help influence Google, Yahoo or Bing to rank your website better. These few suggestions can enable your site to go from no where to somewhere very easily. Without any further or do, we’ll get started on the Top 10 Search Engine Optimization tricks.

1. Finding the ideal keywords is the smartest thing that you can do, spend time getting to know phrases like PageRank and Search Volume. When selecting keywords don’t just choose the one with the highest search volume, you should find relevant keywords that go well with your business or service but that also has a decent search volume.

2. Quality over quantity. Don’t make small thing websites that no one is going to enjoy. Users are becoming smarter and smarter on the internet, your one webpage about your company website won’t cut it anymore. Small and unfriendly websites just won’t work.

3. Titles are absolutely crucial make sure that you put the keywords IN the title. Writing captivating titles with your keyword in them will help the search engines better identify your pages true theme while helping your customers WANT to click on your results.

4. Do not waste your time submitting your info to the search engines. Submitting your sites is just letting the search engines know that it’s not very exciting or worthwhile, wait until they come to your site naturally. It’s not much of a quality indicator if you have to tell the search engines about your site.

5. Forget about link farming. Link farms are pages that are specifically created to have thousands of links in an attempt to game the search engines. Search engines are able to easily identify link farms, don’t get yourself caught up with them.

6. You really want to increase your keywords strength by having it a few times on your site. Again this will help influence the search engines to better understand what your “main” keyword is on that specific page.

7. Backlinks backlinks backlinks. Backlinks are indicators of trust to the search engines. The higher quality the links, the higher your website will rank. Spending time getting quality backlinks is what can make or break you.

8. Just do it. Focus on ranking on Google, their search volume far exceeds the competitors.

9. Minimize the use of Images or Flash The search engines can’t read images, and has a very difficult time with Flash. Spend time making sure that you don’t have any unnecessary images or use of Flash on your website.

10. Keep your website fast. Bloated websites take a longer time to load and Google hates that. Google’s ultimate goal is to make a better internet by making websites fast, don’t get crappy rankings because of a slow website. If you use WordPress, try and use less plugins. Get rid of unnecessary images as well and any outside code.

Implementing these strategies can help you rise to the top. Keep in mind that there are many other SEO tactics that can help you rank, except that these are the top 10 that you really want to remember.

How to Promote Your Blog: Practical Advice and Reasonable Expectations

Guest Author: John Vespasian

Blogging is taking over the world in terms of activity and influence. Starting up a blog is easy and anyone can get it running in about half an hour. Nobody knows exactly how many active blogs are on the internet. My guess is that today, in June 2009, there must be around 20 million that post new material daily.

Writing original material everyday is a different game. Many are able to begin a blog and publish text during the initial weeks, but taking the venture further is not for the faint of heart. Focused writing requires tremendous discipline and generating fresh ideas everyday is tough.

Six months later, the 20 million blogs that were started get reduced, I estimate, to about 1 million. Of course, in the meantime, another 19 million blogs have made their appearance on the web. This new influx of players re-establishes the market to its former size until the the next round of pruning takes place.

Promoting a blog is not much different from other forms of internet marketing. What is difficult is choosing the way of promotion that matches best your objectives. Are you writing about a popular subject or is it highly specialized? Will you be addressing controversial issues? Here are some ideas:

* GOOGLE ADS: You can purchase ads from Google by bidding for a certain word or group of words. People who search for those words, will click on them, and be directed to your blog. Your cost per click will vary according to the word you choose and how many people are bidding for it at a given time. If you sell high-margin items, this is an alternative that you should definitely explore.

* PURSUING THIRD-PARTY LINKS: If you are a writer, you will most likely be using your blog to promote your current and future books. In that case, you might wish to devote part of your time to pursue third-party links. If you are featured by a major website in your field, the number of visitors to your blog is sure to increase. Introduce yourself and inquire if that website publishes articles by guest writers. Usually, the answer will be negative. Don’t be discouraged, move to the next site, and keep trying.

* USING RSS FEEDERS: This approach needs lots of patience, but in the long-term, is by far the most solid. RSS feeders are automatic distribution systems that disseminate the content of your blog to those who wish to receive it. Install one in your blog, so that your audience can subscribe to your posts. Some readers will try it only for a while and that is perfectly fine. Those who really like what you write will stay and allow you to grow.

Your expectations for your blog should be in line with your long-term goals. By posting shocking material, you might attract hundreds of one-time readers, but those are not worth much. What you want is to attract people who move in the same direction as you do.

Typing your name on Google and Yahoo remains the best way to measure how fast your influence is spreading. If you begin your blog from scratch, from absolutely zero, what sort of expectations should you have? How do you know if you are progressing at a good speed?

If you do not have an advertising budget and are not building on previous celebrity status, you would be doing well if you manage to accumulate a few hundred readers or third-party links after six months. If that is the case, congratulations, you are doing great. Your blog belongs to those who stay.

Top 5 Ways To Generate Cheap Website Traffic

Ever wondered how big hit sites drive traffic to their site? Most of them are spending tons of money to drive the traffic to their sites, investing in many advertising campaigns and different forms of marketing schemes and gimmicks. This is all worthwhile because, well, they are what they are now, high earning, big hitting websites.

You don’t have to do this if you don’t really have their resources. There are many ways to generate low cost website traffic without having to spend what you don’t have or can’t afford. Many people have banked on high cost methods and have ended up losing their shirt over it.

Here I present to you the Top five ways to generate low cost website traffic that could help your site a whole lot. Even if you only get a small percentage of successful visitors in to client ratio it still works especially if you get a high number of website traffic.

Exchange Links

This is a sure and proven method. Rarely would you see a site where there is no link to another site. Many webmasters are willing to exchange links with one another so that they could produce more public awareness about their sites. You’ll soon see and feel the sudden upsurge of the traffic coming in to your site from other sites.

A major prerequisite in exchanging links with other sites is having the same niche or content as the other site. They should share a common subject so that there is continuity in the providing of service and information to what interests your target traffic.

Exchanging links also boosts your chances of getting a high ranking in search engine results. It is common knowledge that search engines ranks high sites that have inbound and outbound theme-related links. With a good ranking position in the search engines, you will generate more traffic in your website without the high costs.

Traffic Exchange

This is like exchanging links but on a different higher level. This may cost a bit more than exchanging or trading links but could be made cheaper because you get to earn credits. You can use those credits when viewing others traffic, while you earn credits when someone views yours.

Traffic exchange services are the viewing of another’s site or page. This is done vice versa where a site can use your sites contents and so can you to his or her site. You both benefit from each others efforts to generate traffic. The other sites visitors can go to your pages and know more about your site as well as theirs. Once again the public awareness of your sites existence is boosted.

Write and Submit Articles

There are many e-zines and online encyclopedias in the internet which provides free space for articles to be submitted. If you want to save costs, you can do the articles yourself. There are many freelance writers who are willing to write for you for a small fee, but to save money, it is wise to do those articles yourself.

Write articles that are themed along with the niche of your site. Write something that you have expertise on so that when they read it, they can feel your knowledge about the subject and will be eager to go to your site. Write articles that produce tips and guidelines to the subject or niche your site has.

Include a resource box at the end of your article that can link them to your site. Write a little about yourself and your site. If you provide a light, information-laden and interesting article, they will go to your site for more.

I have a very comprehensive list of article banks at my blog, click here (article banks)!

Make a Newsletter.

This may sound like hard work because of all the articles you may need to use to build a newsletter but on the contrary, this is not so. There are many writers and sites that are willing to provide free articles as long as they can get their name in on your newsletter. This will also provide free advertising for them as well.

As your newsletter gets pass around, you can widen your public awareness and build an opt-in list that can regularly visit your site.

Join Online Communities and Forums

This only requires your time and nothing else. You can share your knowledge and expertise with many online communities as well as your website. You can get free advertising when you go to forums that have the same subject or niche with your site.

Share your two cents and let them see how knowledgeable you are with the subject. As you build your reputation, you also build the reputation of your site, making it a reputable and honest business that could be frequented and trusted by many people.

One example of a web community is http://blogcatalog.com There are also various communities within yahoo groups.
